Gods and Monsters opened in the UK in Leicester Square on the 26th March 1999, though it was available in very few cinemas across the country. Where I live, in the south of England, it wasn't until two months later I got to see the film at a local cinema.

G+M had a budget of $3.5 million and was filmed in just a month yet it received rave reviews. These were both for the acclaimed performances of Lynn Redgrave and Sir Ian McKellen, but also that for Brendan Fraser, who many, until now, have perceived only as a kook and hunky B-movie actor.
